This is civic nationalism?

"English people are defined by freedom"

The logical endpoint of that way of thinking, is that one would prefer our institutions of "freedom" to be saved instead of Anglo-Saxons as a people.

We can survive tyranny. North Korea and East Germany preserve their peoples better than liberal South Korea and West Germany.

In addition, there has been plenty of tyranny in our past that hasn't destroyed our Englishness

I do not see 'English' as a physical race entirely defined by genetics. I see it as an ethnicity defined by both race and history.

You say tyranny has not destroyed our Englishness in the past. That was because the tradition of being an English person was perpetuated by families. Now we have multiculturalism and we are being overwhelmed with numbers it will not easily be possible to preserve our culture.
