The World Economic Forum is a pressure group that represents multinational companies and international banks. It has over $350m to spend every year. Politicians go to the annual WEF meeting in Davos, Switzerland, to make contacts for when they are no longer in office. The promises of board memberships etc. depend upon delivery of pro-internationalist policies.
Labour leaders such as Rachel Reeves, Keir Starmer and Jonathan Reynolds are keen attendees at WEF meetings (See Guardian and Politico). Jeremy Hunt is attending this year. It is horrifying to see these UK politicians skipping off to Davos like children going to the head teacher for a gold star.
Boris Johnson banned his ministers from attending WEF meetings (Politico) which brought the ire of the corporate world onto his head.
The BBC covers any adverse publicity for the WEF as conspiracy theories. However, the WEF is completely open about the fact that it is training the next generation of world leaders, is imposing WEF values on its corporate members etc.
The most sinister aspect of the WEF is that it escapes media scrutiny and is now controlled by China. When the Chancellor of the Exchequer attends Davos it is reported as a global jamboree rather than an exercise in subversion of national governments. What is also never mentioned is that Chinese companies are all controlled by the State and the many, huge Chinese businesses that are members of the WEF all tow the government line.
