Migration and the Roman Empire
I am currently reading a book called “Roman Britain” and there are tremendous parallels with the modern age. The biggest parallel concerns migration.
Roman emperors owned their conquests. It was an affront to the emperor for any Gaul or Briton to say that the land was their land. The emperor moved whole populations if it suited him. He set borders and outlawed local customs and dissent. He encouraged trade and migration.
The emperor’s key administrators supported him because their livelihood and wealth depended upon him. The whole public sector of the Roman State supported the emperor with their lives and spread the propaganda that being Roman was the only civilised way to live. The purpose of any country was to enhance their economy to provide funds for the emperor and his acolytes. The propaganda spread by the religious cult of the emperor was so effective that many of the people believed it.
The parallel with our modern times is extremely close. Multinational Businesses (Banks and Corporates) are the new empire. They demand free movement of people, money and goods. They finance political parties and the media. The political parties do what the financiers demand, their wealth and livelihoods depend on it. The public sector and media spread the message that being internationalist is the only civilised way to live. The purpose of the country is to enhance the economy to provide funds for the multinational corporations and banks. The propaganda from the media is so effective that many of the people believe it.
The fact is that this country is your land. Your ancestors died so that you might have some small power to control it. If you are poor this control and the place where you live is all that you have. Allow the empire to remove it and you will have nothing. The empire only cares for itself.
The empire creates myths such as migration being about poor asylum seekers. Almost all migration is government policy and is sucking skilled people from poor countries. Or that we need to be part of a large union such as the EU or global government so that we can be rich from free trade, movement of people and capital. It makes them rich, not us.
Most of the migrants to the UK are not especially poor in their own countries, even “asylum seekers” pay £5-10,000 to come here. What they almost all have in common is that they come from corrupt countries where the ordinary people count for next to nothing.
When the government of the UK has completed the task of defeating the people of the UK on behalf of the empire it will no longer be worth coming here. The migration crisis will finally be over.
You can stop them, never vote Conservative, Labour or Lib-Dem again. Don’t do it. They don’t represent you, they work for the empire.
