Most people could not give a toss about anything outside of their immediate world. Their interests are work, family, friends, sports and hobbies. People have little interest in politics.
The PEW opinion poll above is for the USA, there is probably less interest in the UK. In 2014 42% of 16- 24s in the UK said they had no interest at all in politics.
When I was in my late teens I was active in politics. What put me off was the widespread apathy: 26% of people with a small interest in politics is 74% not really interested.
Apathy means that politics is a matter of small groups of dedicated individuals organising cells across the country to convince people that they should be elected. A group of 5 or 10 like minded people could take over a typical group, such as a Tory constituency party. A few thousand determined activists might be able to take over a national party. The successful groups are those that have finance and networks beyond their grass roots membership. Politics comes down to sponsorship by wealthy patrons, trade unions, business or foreign powers. It also involves promises of future rewards by wealthy patrons, trade unions, business or foreign powers, otherwise known as corruption.
People at large were so apathetic that as a 20 year old activist I gave up and only preserved an academic interest in politics. This is still really my view.
The profile and success of political parties depends on their funding.

Of the three historically largest parties Labour is the most interesting. It is still heavily financed and supported by the Trade Unions. These were deeply penetrated by the Soviet Union in the Cold War.
Jack Jones, head of the TUC during the turbulent 1970s was a Soviet agent. See KGB Colonel says he paid Jack Jones, Jack Jones worked for KGB , Union boss sold secrets to KGB and Reaching through the iron curtain. This might seem innocuous but the unions bankrolled Labour and Labour MPs are usually trained within the unions. Jack Jones’ union sponsored and trained Neil Kinnock, Tony Blair, Margaret Beckett, Harriet Harman and John Reid. It is impossible to believe that these individuals were not moles given that the two top jobs in the union were held by Jones and Alec Kitson who were both KGB agents.
Tony Blair had been a Trotskyist and John Reid was a communist until shortly before being elected as a Labour MP. In fact the New Labour senior members were far left revolutionaries who, after the fall of the Soviet Union, decided to corrupt the country from within. (See The Roots of New Labour). If you wondered why we had the Belfast Agreement, Devolution, The Lisbon Treaty, mass migration, the Equality Act 2010 etc. you need look no further. Labour wanted to break the UK: old habits die hard.
The Trade Unions still supply significant funding to the Labour Party. From when Sir Keir Starmer became Labour leader in April 2020 to the end of 2022, Electoral Commission records show that Labour has received donations of at least £17 million from trade unions, .. excluding payments made to individual MPs. (Full Fact). However, Labour is now fully in bed with big business.
Big business funding comes especially from Gary Lubner (£4.5m), a multimillionaire ex South African policeman from the Apartheid era and keen supporter of Israel and from Lord Sainsbury (£4m) and his daughter. A third of Labours big donations come from just these two donors.
The modern Labour Party is led by Keir Starmer who looks like a stuffy suburban accountant. In the 1980s Starmer was a Pabloist Trotskyite and a member of Socialist Alternatives. Socialist Alternatives was the British section of the International Revolutionary Marxist Tendency (IRMT), a formerly Trotskyist Pabloite group based in Paris. Being a small group in the UK, it was best known for the Marxist magazine of the same name partially edited by Keir Starmer from 1986 to 1987 (Wikipedia).
In common with many Trotskyists, such as Tony Blair, Starmer fell in with International Big Business. He was a member of the Trilateral Commission for many years. The Trilateral Commission is part of the Internationalist grouping of multinational companies and international investment banks. Trotskyists are dedicated to leading leaders of the international working class to political power and the first step to achieve this is Globalism.
The aims of the International Socialists such as Trotskyists mesh well with those of International Big Business. Both groups want global power to be in the hands of a small group that composes a world government which sets economic policy globally. Both groups are best friends with the current fascist/national socialist government of China.
If you think you can avoid Internationalism by voting Conservative then think again. The Conservatives are closely controlled by International Big Business. We saw this elegantly demonstrated when the Conservative Parliamentary Party simply removed Liz Truss from office and appointed their own man, Rishi Sunak, without reference to the rank and file or constitution of the Conservative Party.
The choice at the next election is between nut case far lefties and corrupt big business apparatchiks. Neither gives a damn about the people of Britain.
The only people in all of this who are not disingenuously saying they are working in your interests whilst pursuing their own maniacal path to power are the Chinese and Russians. Their plan is straightforward and open: reduce Western countries to rudderless discontent then inherit the world order so that the Slavs and Han can rule the world (our enemies construe the world in racist terms). Simple. No lies to get your vote. China now effectively runs the Internationalist power base called the World Economic Forum so the future looks inevitable.
The perfect picture, big business and the Stalinist Left getting an award from China:
You are going to love a millennium of totalitarian socialism with a dash of free enterprise capitalism. Or will you be surprised that this is what apathy has brought?
PS: As an afterthought, most senior members of the Labour Party have embraced the idea of revolution in England, Civil War with hundreds of thousands killed. Pabloite Trotskyists even embraced the idea that nuclear holocaust was a good idea to achieve socialism. The Labour elite have regarded the apathetic masses as cattle that needed leading and culling. Yet the mass media regards these people as suitable for office. Thank goodness none of them used the “n” word.
