President Trump has already changed the world. The world had come to believe that the US Deep State was the USA. Trump has disabused it of this fantasy.
The Deep State was born with Roosevelt’s globalism and the Cold War. The Truman Doctrine of 1947 and the Marshall Plan shifted US policy towards easing global trade and favouring US Multinational Corporations. Big business became entangled with the Deep State.
President Eisenhower was uneasy about the Deep State and warned about the independent power of the US military-industrial complex. He said:
“In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.” (President Eisenhower)
But he did nothing to stop the Deep State. A twin policy evolved of providing a security umbrella for the West and an utter belief that US multinational corporations were a power for good. No US presidents stopped this policy because, until the 21st century, it increased US power and influence.
It is often declared that the US Deep State is a ‘conspiracy theory’ but anyone who has been in a room full of senior people from the US administration, banking and industry would know that they all shared the Roosevelt/Truman dream of a World Order. They have appointed each other to fulfil this dream whatever the ‘populist’ Joe Public or elected politicians might think. They live in a joint folly.
The West in general accepted US imposed tariff-free trade as an article of faith. Tariff-free trade benefits multinational corporations, not nation states. International trade is mediated by multinationals. It is where they operate. (See Tariffs and Economic Growth). The favouring of international trade by the USA has established a global system that favours multinationals. Now that these multinationals are based in China, India, Germany etc. the USA has withdrawn its support. It is delivering a wake up call.
The US Deep State activity, from military guarantees to promoting International Trade and global aid and support has had a dire influence. It encouraged socialism in the West and globally.
The West, outside of the USA, became dependent, academic, communitarian and soft.
Western countries outside the US slashed their defence spending and leant entirely on Article 5 of the NATO treaty. If they were attacked they expected the USA to ride to the rescue.
The West outside the USA allowed their strategic industries to be dissipated into the hands of multinationals. In the case of the UK many strategic industries have been lost entirely.
The UK government views industry and commerce as the province of multinationals. There is no understanding that the plumber who provides an excellent service, the shopkeeper who curates a successful shop, the software developer who sets up smooth running business systems, the independent manufacturers, smelters and miners etc are the backbone of the national economy. Like academic socialists everywhere the governing faction believes that the economy is no more than a system for providing products and services, not the fulfilment of the dreams and work of individuals. The idea that industry and commerce are the province of multinationals has fatally undermined enterprise in the UK.
Both the Labour and Conservative parties in the UK have become academic socialists with no appreciation of what business and commerce actually means for a society. What it means for the aspirations of individuals.
In the UK the people have become unaware that their society is precious. The Internationalists see the world as a safe place shepherded by the USA.
If the US Deep State were not active the UK would need to create security forces for its own defence and define what it is defending. It would revile traitors and detractors, not appoint them to prestigious media and academic posts. It would defend free speech and the freedoms of English people.
The UK and much of the rest of the West has fallen into a stupor based on the confidence that the US Deep State will always protect them.
President Trump is changing the Western fantasy. He is making it clear that the USA has been infantilising the West. The West has come to rely on US power. Trump is reminding us that this is the reality. The UK and EU should be ashamed that they have become so weak and soft that they could not last a month of Russian or Chinese tactical warfare (or a year of Chinese economic warfare). Under the luxury of US protection they have slipped into an unsustainable socialism.
Look at these drab ideologues:
None of them have ever done anything real and they all see the state as the controller of hand outs, not the generator of identity and enthusiasm that must be defended. The luxury of US security has allowed the electorate to believe that these people can be a valid government.
If President Trump rips out the Deep State then the rest of the West will find itself out in the cold reality of this big world.
Postscript: Biden may have transferred $7 billion to Deep State organisations after losing the election. There are 250,000 NGO employees in Washington. (Zero Hedge).
I see no reference to the global Zionist banking mafia (a.k.a. the BanksterZ) in this essay.
